How it works

  1. A kid draws a friend

    Your child draws the friend they wish they had: a flower who waves hello, a cloud-bunny who loves puddles, a sock with a jetpack. Crayons, markers, anything goes.

  2. A grown-up sends it

    A parent or guardian sends a photo of the drawing (the drawing only, never faces), the friend's name and one thing it loves, and gives permission.

  3. We bring one to life

    Each day we pick one drawing and bring it to life in a short vertical video, keeping every wobbly line and quirk. It always ends with the Honest Label.

Send your drawing

It takes about 3 minutes. Please include:

  • A clear photo of the drawing: flat, in daylight, the whole page
  • The friend's name (like "Pogo")
  • One thing it loves to do (like "jumping in puddles")
  • How to credit your child: first name, initial, or just "a young artist" (never a last name), and whether to show their age

Drawings only: no faces, and please cover any full name, school or address written on the paper. For now we can accept drawings from families in the United States; French and Spanish versions are coming.

The Honest Label

Every clip ends with a little card that says, plainly, who made what. Kids deserve credit for their imagination, and everyone deserves to know when AI is involved.

For parents

This project is made for families, so safety comes first. Here's what we promise, and what you agree to when you send a drawing.

Our promises

  • Drawings only. Never children's faces, voices, full names, schools or locations.
  • Permission first. Every drawing is shared with a parent's written permission. No permission, no clip.
  • Cute and kind only. No monsters, nothing scary. If a friend has teeth or claws, we make it cuddly or kindly skip it.
  • Original friends only. No cartoon, movie or brand characters.
  • Clean photos. We crop out any names and strip location data from the photo before it goes near an AI tool.
  • Never for sale. We never sell kids' drawings or use them in ads. There are no ads here at all.
  • Take it down anytime. Ask and we remove the clip from our accounts within 7 days.
  • Watched comments. We filter and moderate comments, and delete anything that asks about a child.

When you send a drawing, you confirm that:

  1. You are the child's parent or legal guardian, and you are 18 or older.
  2. Draw Me a Friend may post the drawing, turn it into an AI-animated version, and share both on the Draw Me a Friend accounts (TikTok, Instagram, Threads, Facebook, YouTube and X), including versions with French or Spanish text.
  3. The drawing will be processed with third-party AI tools (for example Google Gemini and Google Flow). Where a tool lets us keep uploads out of model training, we switch that on.
  4. Nothing personal is shown: only the drawing, the friend's name and, if you choose, your child's first name or initial and age.
  5. It's your child's original drawing, not a copy of a cartoon or brand character.
  6. You can withdraw permission at any time by emailing hello@drawmeafriend.com or using our removal form. We delete the posts on our accounts within 7 days. Copies other people already shared may not be fully recallable.
  7. It's free and unpaid. We won't sell the drawing or use it in paid advertising.
  8. Optional: if a news outlet covers the project, it may show your child's clip (same rules: no faces, no last names, no locations).

You sign by typing your full name at the end of the form. We pick one drawing a day, so we can't promise every friend a spot, but every drawing is looked at by a real person.

Who we are
Draw Me a Friend is a free, non-commercial project run by Romain Thomas, operating Draw Me a Friend, who is responsible for your information. Contact: hello@drawmeafriend.com.
This is for grown-ups
Drawings must be sent by a parent or legal guardian who is 18 or older. We collect information from parents, not from children. We don't knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If a child contacts us or sends us something, we won't use it, we'll kindly ask them to get a grown-up, and we'll delete it.
What we collect
Only what we need to make the clip and to show we have your permission. Our submission form asks for:
  • where your family lives (country)
  • your email address (parent or guardian)
  • the photo of the drawing
  • the friend's name, the one thing it loves and, if you like, other details about it
  • how to credit your child: first name, initial, or just "a young artist" (never a last name)
  • whether to show your child's age, and the age if you say yes
  • whether you'd like a preview before the clip is posted
  • whether we may tag you and, if yes, your TikTok or Instagram handle
  • how you heard about us (optional)
  • your permission choices (the consent boxes) and your full name, typed as your signature
The form link also records which page or platform you came from (for example "site" or "tiktok"), so we know where families find us. If you live outside the United States, we only record your country. If you ask us to remove a drawing, the removal form asks for your email, the post link or friend's name, and an optional message. Your typed name is kept private and never shown. We never ask for photos of children, last names, schools, addresses or voices.
How we use it
To make and post the clip, to contact you about your drawing (questions, a preview if you asked, the link when it's live, or taking it down), to credit and tag you the way you chose, and to prove we have your permission. No marketing emails, no newsletter, no selling or sharing for ads. Ever.
How long we keep it
Original photos are deleted 30 days after posting, and drawings we don't use are deleted within 60 days. The permission record is kept for as long as the post is online, plus 1 year.
Who else handles it
Your submission is stored in our form tool (Tally) and a private spreadsheet. A few service providers handle information for us:
  • Tally: our submission and removal forms
  • Google: third-party AI tools, such as Google Gemini and Google Flow, process the drawing (never your email or name), with training opt-outs switched on where offered
  • Porkbun: forwards emails sent to hello@drawmeafriend.com
  • Cloudflare Pages (Cloudflare, Inc.): hosts this website
The finished clip is posted on our social media accounts.
Your rights
You can review, correct or delete your information, or withdraw permission, at any time. Just email hello@drawmeafriend.com or use our removal form. We remove the clip from our accounts within 7 days and confirm by email. Copies other people have already shared may not be fully recallable.
This website
No cookies, no analytics, no ads, no tracking scripts. The font and images are served from this site. This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages (Cloudflare, Inc.), which, like any web host, may process basic technical data (such as IP addresses) to deliver the site and keep it secure.
